What comes to mind whenever we hear a word or see an image/representation or the subject it's self? Playing on a similar idea as 'One And Three Chairs' by Joseph Kosuth and Semiotics.
Visually communicate the
semiotic word association we have with common day objects such as a
book or a glass of water. What the dictionary definition of these
objects are can be completely different from what they mean to us
personally or cultural. Although I am using language in my art I am
using it to back up or to be backed up by visual communication, it is
the visual which is most dominating and though the words I use can be
strong they are only able to be so with the visuals.
